You’re on a cruise with thousands of other people and while the camaraderie is great sometimes you’re looking for a little peace and quiet while on your cruise ship. Whether you want to read a book, meditate or just escape things for a little while – there’s a place for you.

Here are five quiet places on your ship:

1. Forward and Aft Decks. A lot ships have public sections forward and aft that not a lot of guests know about. Some of the decks have benches, chairs and even tables.

2. Lifeboat deck. Scope out the lifeboat deck on your next sailing. It’s wide open and usually has benches that line the port and starboard side – allowing for some peace and quiet and letting you take in the ocean air.

3. Library.  There is a misconception that the library on ships disappeared with the old days of cruising but the truth is that every ship still has one and it’s primarily empty.

4. Lounges. A lot of the lounges on cruise ships have a lot of night venues that are only open at night. Occasionally they’ll be used during the day for different art auctions and such but they are primarily closed during the day. You can sit in the corner of one of these nighttime venues and escape the hustle and bustle of the day time.

5. Adults-Only areas. A majority of the cruise lines have dedicated areas for adults-only. For example, Carnival has Serenity and Celebrity has the solarium pools that are for ages 18+.

6. Balcony. This one is obvious but sometimes overlooked. Head to your balcony, prop your feet up and have complete peace and quiet.

So there’s a lot of ways to get peace and quiet when on your sailing. It’s a matter of finding the right place.
